Springfield takes
President's Trophy
August 21st, Springfield
(Reuters)- It all came down to the final block of games, including a road
game versus arch rival London. The 'Peckers were up to the task,
winning in London 5-3 to clinch the President's Trophy and home ice
throughout the playoffs. Springfield accumulated
120 points on the season, missing the record of 128 set last year by
Chilliwack. Paul Kariya of the London Whiskey Jacks captured the
Wayne Gretzky and Mario Lemieux trophies for leading the league in points
and goals respectively. The playoffs are now underway and it
looks like the teams to beat are Springfield, Victoria, London and
Wetaskiwin. All four teams cracked the 100 point mark and finished
the season strong. It should be fun!! |
Shawn McEachern leads all
goal scorers!
June 20th, Kingston (CP)-
One of the bigger shocks of the season to this point is Kingston
Frontenac, Shawn McEachern leading the goal scoring race with 35 after 45
games. Brendan Shanahan has fallen off the pace but Elias, Kariya,
and Robitaille are all tied with 32 hot on Shawn's trail. In the
points race, Paul Kariya leads McEachern by 3. |
Can Andreas keep Peckers
up?
May 27th, Springfield (UP)-
Its early still but the Springfield Woodpeckers have so far proved
themselves to be the class of the CTMHL. In the Campbell Conference
it has been the Victoria Salsa and the Wetaskiwin Ice dueling for the
number one position. Kingston is proving worthy also in the Prince
of Wales Conference. Brendan Shanahan, of Oakhurst, leads all goal
scorers with 22 trailed hotly by a pack of Bure, Palffy and
Robitaille. Paul Kariya of the Whiskey Jacks, leads in the points
race with 43 with Bure, Robitaille and Pierre Turgeon, hot on his
heels. |
